Team Lead 1 – Fuel Cell Production

Supervises: Tube Production, Cell Fabrication, & Current Collection

Developing and supervising direct reports        
  • Trains, coaches, and orients new and current employees on company products, processes, and procedures.  Observe compliance with these standards.  Monitors and audits job enhancement progress.
  • Assigns daily work, evaluates performance, facilitates teamwork, coaches, and counsels employees.  Provide reinforcement and positive relationship building.
  • Identifies developmental needs for each employee.

Plans resource utilization  
  • Determines labor needs based on departmental production requirements and assigns work station rotations.  Schedules and tracks production targets.  Supports experiments and assures on-time delivery.
  • Schedules vacation, holidays, overtime and special assignment responsibilities as determined by business operations / needs. 
  • Provides tools, personal protective equipment and materials to employees for job completion.

Implements plant policies, procedures and practices
  • Support and enforce work rules including safety, environmental, and housekeeping within the plant. 
  • Support and enforce employees wearing all safety personal protective equipment properly.
  • Perform accident investigations on employee accidents and near misses in a timely manner.  Apply corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure departmental meetings and other means are utilized to communicate changes or updates to employees regarding business requirements, safety, policies, procedures and practices.
  • Enforce plant policies, procedures and practices by consistently and formally coaching and counseling employees when violations occur.

Solves operational problems

  • Identifies and defines the problem, assist in data collection and analyzing data.  Use results of analysis to implement corrective action.
  • Monitor progress of solutions implemented.

  • Track and report on Throughput, Efficiency, Cost and On-Time Delivery.
  • Develop and Communicate Improvement Action Plans
  • Assure correct materials and supplies are available for production at the start of the shift.
  • Work with supply chain and production forecast.      
  • Address changes to kanbans, obsolete materials, and material labeling
  • Manage materials for experiments

  • Identify and update documents as appropriate
  • Assure compliance to quality standards
  • Assure paperwork is filled out completely and correctly
  • Assure SOPs (written or verbal) are followed by technicians
  • Identify gaps and work with appropriate parties to resolve them  
  • Documentation of and updating SOPs and Forms, as needed
  • Communicate changes to team
  • File all appropriate paperwork
  • Assure equipment calibration and perform in-house calibrations.
Administrative duties
  • Completion of daily production records on metrics boards.
  • Additional responsibilities completed as required.
  • Update and assure validity of data reporting

Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high stress work environment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS, but not limited to:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literate. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Able to train/teach the jobs in the area
• Problem solving skills around multiple variables that affect production line output
• Must be able to assess proficiency of trainees

Special Requirements:
• U.S. Citizen required, per ITAR definition

Most work is performed in enclosed buildings. Varied indoor working environment conditions. While performing the duties, the candidate is frequently exposed to computer terminals, sitting, and standing for long lengths of time. Frequent and prolonged periods of time looking at a computer screen. Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, sitting, and bending during each workday. The vision requirement includes close vision, distant vision, and computer vision. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. Carrying up to 45 pounds. PPE for production, as well as PPE for Covid and infectious diseases, include a facial mask, and protective gloves as necessary. These ADA requirements are not inclusive of the performed and responsibilities to be held by the candidate.
