If equipped with advanced Epsilon EO/IR payloads, Penguin C MIL UAS is one of the most capable surveillance UAS available on the market.

PERFORMANCE

The sleek and efficient design gives best in class performance. Optimized for endurance, Penguin B airframe has enough internal volume to lift 7.5 litres of fuel which will provide more than 20 hours endurance with the fuel-injected engine.

In 2012, the EDGE Autonomy team expanded the boundaries of the unmanned aircraft capability by performing a nonstop 54 hour and 27-minute flight of Penguin B. It’s still the longest recorded flight for a mini-class unmanned aircraft.

Penguin B is a high-performance semi-integrated small UAV platform available for final assembly and customization by UAV system integrators. The Penguin B has been available since 2009, and it has been sold to UAV system integrators in more than 43 countries. Due to its proven design and many options to choose from, Penguin B has become the most widely used small UAV platform by system integrators, research organizations and universities.

Penguin B allows users to kick-start small fixed-wing UAV production with the use of an industry-proven airframe and compatible subsystems and components.

Penguin B is available as semi-integrated airframe ready for the autopilot and payload integration by the customers that have competency in aircraft integration. EDGE Autonomy also provides a 4-day Penguin B integration course, which is highly recommended to ensure successful integration projects are delivered in a short time.

While Penguin B integration requires additional effort, Penguin C is available EDGE Autonomy’s ready-to-fly fully integrated UAV.

MODULAR DESIGN

  •  completely interchangeable.
  • Wing splits into three 1.1 meter sections and the V-tail splits in two parts. High-end industrial-grade push-pull connectors are installed in tail-boom joints as standard. A quick-release fastening is used extensively in Penguin B airframe. Access covers are equipped with DZUS type 1/4 turn quick fasteners, tail-booms are equipped with a purpose developed quick-release aluminium joints.
  • Piccolo® autopilot configuration files for Penguin B customers are available free of charge.
  • CAD model of Penguin B available to simplify the payload and autopilot integration for the clients. Extensive documentation is provided with Penguin B aircraft and subsystems.
  • Available with EDGE Autonomy’s own UAV28-EFI turnkey fuel-injected engine. Efficient gasoline engine with electronic fuel injection and 80 W or 100 W power generator system.
  • Takeoff from anywhere using a portable pneumatic catapult
  • Optional heavy-duty landing gear allows landing on rough terrain
  • Heated pitot-static probe for preventing ice formation

The producer of Octopus payloads is our factory’s subdivision Octopus ISR Subsystems that does full product manufacturing cycle in-house: from development to design, from prototyping to hand-tuning, thus making Epsilon series gimbals the best choice for use with our UAV.
