Salary Range: $126k–$179k Annually
Job Summary
Edge Autonomy is seeking an experienced supervisor for our Mechanical and Aeronautical engineering team to help develop new UAV systems as well as improve and support our existing ones.
Responsibilities
- ME/AERO team project prioritization and tasking
- Team growth planning, mentoring, and onboarding of new team members
- Work cross-functionally with peer supervisors to help coordinate the greater team
- Drawing/design approval and continuous improvement of release process
- Own the development of new UAV system components from concept through production
- Support existing product line through performance analysis, documentation improvements, and testing
- Create CAD models for new and existing products
- Create documentation packages (drawings, procedures, specifications, etc) for new and existing products
- Observe and assist engineering and production teams in resolving issues
- Communicate challenges with leadership
- Team performance tracking and reviews
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Experience (typically 10-15 years) designing complex mechanical assemblies for UAVs or in a closely related field
- Experience with composite part design and manufacturing processes
- Experience designing for a wide range of manufacturing techniques (such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and rapid manufacturing)
- Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies and thermal analysis
- Experience creating 3D CAD models including surface modeling techniques
- Experience creating production quality engineering drawings of mechanical parts and assemblies
- Experience with part dimensioning and tolerancing and ability to mentor and continually improve drawing process
- Strong people and communication skills, willing to work with others
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Outlook)
- Able to work cooperatively on a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising/managing personnel
- Experience with program/project management or as an engineering team lead or supervisor
- Experience with wire harnesses integration
- Expert level Solidworks skills
- Familiarity with Solidworks PDM
- Experience designing for a wide range of manufacturing techniques, at a minimum: machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and rapid manufacturing
- CNC machining experience
- Experience with aircraft design, performance analysis, and/or construction
- Radio control or other piloting experience a plus
- GD&T experience

The candidate must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings. This position is primarily housed on a manufacturing floor. While performing the duties, the candidate is frequently exposed to chemicals, dust, and dirt. There will be sitting and standing for extended lengths of time. The vision requirement includes close vision, distant vision, and computer vision. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate manufacturing equipment, and build assemblies. Ability to carry up to 50 pounds. PPE for production and PPE for infectious diseases includes a facial mask, respirator, safety glasses, and protective gloves as necessary. These ADA and FEHA requirements are not inclusive of the performed and responsibilities to be held by the candidate.
