Chief Executive Officer
John has spent a career building and operating ISR assets for Special Operations and the Intelligence Community. He joined Edge Autonomy by way of the acquisition of Jennings Aeronautics, where he served as CEO.
Most recently, John was an Operating Partner responsible for Aerospace and Defense at Trive Capital, a Dallas-based private equity firm. In this role, John was CSO for AEVEX Aerospace, where he focused on building a Special Operations and C4ISR portfolio through organic growth, technology development and acquisitions.
Prior to Trive, John was CEO of AME Unmanned Air Systems and, after its acquisition by Lockheed Martin, he transitioned to Director of Unmanned Integration Systems within Lockheed’s Ship and Aviation Systems business. He also held senior leadership positions in Aviation Programs and Technology at Sierra Nevada Corporation.
John received master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Chief Operating Officer
As a commercial pilot with 13 years of experience in Unmanned Systems and an award-winning background in aviation academia, Josh brings a unique perspective to his role as COO of Edge Autonomy.
He was the Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of PARADIGMisr, focused on creating intelligence centers for commercial companies utilizing ISR technologies. Josh has served as the UAS Director for Kansas State University, helping to transform it into one of the largest and most renowned UAS academic programs in the country.
In 2006, he founded the pilot training company EFIS Training, which facilitated pilots’ transition to glass cockpits, and he went on to serve as Chief Pilot for High Performance Aircraft Training, EFIS Training and Lancair Aircraft. Josh has attended Senior Officer training on the Predator UAS at Creech AFB with the 11th Reconnaissance SQ and was as an instructor and test pilot for the U.S. Air Force.
Josh holds ATP & CFII ratings with over 4000 hours and competed in the Reno National Air Races. He has degrees in Airway Science and Professional Pilot from Kansas State University and in 2013 received the Alumni Fellow of the Year Award from KSU’s College of Technology and Aviation.
Chief Product Officer
With more than 20 years of UAS experience and a customer-centered approach rooted in accelerated innovation, Sam is responsible for transforming requirements into best-in-class products, driving strategic vision for Edge Autonomy’s offerings and ensuring that customers are fully supported from concept through end-of-life.
Most recently Sam was Executive Vice President and COO at Jennings Aeronautics, acquired by Edge Autonomy. He joined the company in 2009 as Engineering Manager and expanded into new roles to support the business as it grew.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University in 2001, Sam spent a decade at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, working in conceptual design and executing the rapid development of numerous classified UAS programs from concept to deployment. He was also Operations and Maintenance Support Manager for Skunk Works’ SUAS programs, where he focused on customer success through tailored training and support.
Grounded in four decades of engineering experience, Gordon leads Edge Autonomy’s flight control effort and provides platform-wide technical mentorship. Previously Gordon led Jennings Aeronautics, acquired by Edge Autonomy, as President/CEO/CTO.
Before founding Jennings Aeronautics in 1998, Gordon had a multi-disciplinary engineering career in wastewater measurement, computer peripherals and hardware and software consulting across several industries.
He is a lifelong radio control modeling enthusiast with many years of national and international competition experience. Gordon holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic University.
Chief Growth Officer
With 13 years of service as a US Army Special Forces operator and time spent as an Intelligence Officer in the Defense Clandestine Service at the DIA, Josh has unique insight into the needs of both Defense and Intelligence Community (IC) customers.
Before joining Edge Autonomy, through the UAV Factory acquisition, he was the Vice President of Business Development at QinetiQ Inc., where he focused on all ISR and Airborne Sensor opportunities. Josh was also Business Development Director at Peraton, where he increased the company’s footprint with the US Army, Special Operations and the IC. He was the Director of the National Intelligence Center at Huntington Ingalls Industries, managing all intelligence programs in support of the Department of Defense and IC partners.
Josh earned a master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
Chief Finance Officer
Scott Kirk is the Chief Financial Officer of Edge Autonomy, and is responsible for leading the finance, accounting and IT organizations, and overseeing all human resource, real estate, legal and risk management activities. Scott is an operationally focused executive with experience building companies and scaling operations in partnership with private equity partners and Fortune 500 leadership teams.
Scott brings fifteen years of experience in unmanned and autonomous systems engineering and manufacturing operations to Edge Autonomy, including prior leadership positions at Edge Autonomy, Lockheed Martin Unmanned Integrated Systems, Chandler/May and AME Unmanned Air Systems. Scott holds a BS in Finance from California Polytechnic State University and is a CFA charterholder.
