Reports to the Production Manager

About the position:
The Composites Supervisor is responsible for meeting Management established goals within the Composites-Finishing & Bonding department by scheduling, training, tasking, monitoring, counselling, and disciplining employees within their department.

Duties Include: The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
• Plan, schedule, and task Composites Technicians to meet the objectives established by Management.
• Review timecards submitted by direct reporting staff to ensure accuracy.
• Review and approval of production documentation such as travelers, assembly procedures, and test procedures as required.
• Initiate technical discussion with management, engineering, and production staff to facilitate product realization.
• Reviewing engineering documents and drawings for manufacturability and provide feedback as required.
• Assist production engineering staff with generation of work instructions and procedures.
• Provide guidance, support, and assistance to technicians and engineering staff.
• Advise supply chain management and vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or components.

Required Qualifications:
• U.S. Citizenship
• Requires Facial Respirator at times
• Requires lifting 50 pounds.
• Direct experience with shop equipment, such as air tools, custom tooling, epoxy, sanding equipment and hand tools
• Ability to draft, read, and interpret technical drawings
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, task, and inspire a team
• Strong people and communication skills, willing to work with others
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office 365 software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Outlook)
• Experience using Kaizen (continuous improvement), A3 (problem solving), Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques for process improvement
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in manufacturing or engineering environment
• Experience with composites, resins, adhesives, coatings, measurement tools, math
• Familiarity with Personal Protective Equipment
• The ability to follow verbal and written procedures, good communication skills
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and listen to others
• Keeps quality in mind, attention to detail
• Able to work cooperatively on a team

Preferred Hiring Requirements:
• If an offer of employment is extended, a background check is required, and the Offer of Employment is contingent on the results
• Based on our work requirements, applicants must comply with NOFORN security classification
• Bachelor’s Degree – Management, engineering or related technical field is preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisor or coordinator experience is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of composites, finishing, painting, or bonding experience
• ERP implementation/maintenance experience
• New product development experience
• Experience with a quality management system

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the candidate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings. This position is primarily housed in a temperature-controlled office. While performing the duties, the candidate is frequently exposed to computer terminals, sitting, and standing for long lengths of time. Frequent and prolonged periods of time looking at a computer screen. Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, sitting, and bending during each workday. The vision requirement includes close vision, distant vision, and computer vision. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. Carrying up to 50 pounds. PPE for production, as well as PPE for Covid and infectious diseases, include a facial mask, and protective gloves as necessary. These ADA requirements are not inclusive of the performed and responsibilities to be held by the candidate.
